2025 | Our Highlights from the Past Twelve Months

22nd December, 2025

As 2024 comes to a close, we would like to thank our team, clients, and suppliers for their continued support. It has been another busy year, and we are excited to share some of our highlights from the past twelve months.

This year marks Gael Energy’s 10th anniversary – a decade of growth, dedication, and commitment to keeping the blades turning across Scotland and the UK. Reflecting this continued expansion, we relocated our headquarters to Teaninich Industrial Estate in Alness, giving us the space needed to scale while remaining rooted in the Highlands. With increased storage, enhanced workshop capacity, and improved access, it was the right move at the right time.

We secured our first major Enercon operations and maintenance contract, signing a three-year agreement covering two onshore wind farms in the Scottish Highlands, that sees our engineers deliver full O&M support for a total of 15 Enercon E70 turbines. We also clinched our first major onshore wind major component framework agreement. This four-year contract, spanning multiple wind farms throughout Scotland, involves providing maintenance, repair, and installation services for major components such as blades, gearboxes, and generators across the client’s fleet of Siemens and Vestas wind turbines.

Appointed as Principal Contractor and Principal Designer, and managing all aspects to ensure full compliance with CDM requirements, Gael Energy undertook various major component projects at Kirkby Moor Wind Farm for Nadara, located on the southern boundary of the Lake District National Park. This included a gearbox replacement, a yaw ring replacement (the first time we had carried out a yaw ring exchange on a WD34 turbine), as well as a generator replacement.

Throughout the year, our engineers delivered a series of major component works across multiple sites, travelling far from our Alness headquarters. These included a weld repair on a cracked tower at Taff Ely Wind Farm in South Wales, a blade bearing exchange on a C&F turbine in Shropshire, and the replacement of three complete blade bearing sets at Boulfruich Wind Farm in Caithness. We also carried out our first Major Component replacement on Whitelee which is the UK’s larges wind farm, consisting of 215 wind turbines.

For the first time, Gael Energy exhibited at the All-Energy Exhibition and Conference in Glasgow – the UK’s largest low-carbon energy and full supply chain renewables event. For the 5th year running, we also exhibited at the Royal Highland Show and attended the Scottish Green Energy Awards in Edinburgh.

Hamish Campbell, Managing Director, commented:

“I would especially like to thank our hardworking and dedicated team for their commitment, positive attitude, and good humour throughout the year. Behind every project is a skilled and growing team – over the last 12 months we have welcomed 5 new members – all of whom maintain a strong focus on safety and sustainability, which is central to our commitment to keeping the blades turning for clients across Scotland and the UK.

“As we reflect on another year of growth and success, we are proud to celebrate Gael Energy’s 10th year in business. It’s come a long way since 2015, when it all started with little more than a vision and a battered old Land Rover. Moving into the new year, we are proud to continue supporting our loyal customer base while also expanding the business.

“2026 is shaping up to be another significant year, with more O&M contracts and exciting tendering opportunities on the horizon, chances to further strengthen our expertise, grow the team, and connect with the industry.

“Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Here’s to 2025 – another exciting year of growth, collaboration, and laughs!”
