Wind Turbine Engineer, Highland

We're looking for a highly experienced, multi-skilled, and motivated Wind Turbine Engineer with a technical background in wind and proven experience on wind turbine systems. Reporting to the Area Manager and serving as a vital member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining a growing fleet of wind turbines throughout Scotland and the wider UK.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • The provision of preventative and corrective maintenance on various wind turbines wind turbines as per Gael Energy instructions
  • Completion of all relevant paperwork, including work order cards, checklists, AWPs etc.
  • Lead a team of technicians ensuring all health and safety procedures are followed
  • Replacement of major turbine components e.g. generators and blades
  • Troubleshoot on mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems
  • Assist in all areas of site operations
  • Provide safe access and egress to all people in the work party
  • Establish and maintain general safety from the system
  • Comply with customer site rules
  • Report all incidents and occurrences as per Gael Energy company Health and Safety policy
  • Adhere to Gael Energy policies in regard to all aspects of Health, Safety and Environmental aspects on site
  • Assist in production of risk assessments and method statements (RAMSs) and other QHSE documentation

Skills & Qualifications:

  • A strong background in ‘hands on’ engineering
  • WTSR Training
  • GWO Certification
  • Experience of maintaining various WTG’s
  • Experience carrying out major component replacements
  • Teamwork and collaboration
  • The ability to work at heights
  • Willingness to work in adverse weather conditions
  • Strategic and analytical thinker

  • Willingness to work away on a regular basis
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Higher education in engineering or other relevant disciplines would be desirable but not essential
  • Evidence of technical competence, self-motivation, ability to use own initiative, flexible, problem-solving approach
  • Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary engineering environment
  • Ability to communicate clearly & concisely, both verbally & written and ability to explain technical issues to non-engineers, including Clients
  • A valid driving license
  • willingness to travel is essential

This position is based at our headquarters in Evanton, but it will require frequent travel throughout Scotland and the UK. An attractive remuneration package will be provided commensurate with experience.
