Celebrating Milestones: A Year in Review at Gael Energy (2023) + Festive Opening Hours

18th December, 2023

As 2023 draws to a close, we would like take the opportunity to thank our customers and suppliers for their continued support in what has been another exciting year for Gael Energy, as we continue to develop and grow our business.

We began the year by strategically relocating our headquarters from Invergordon to Evanton, a move that facilitated the addition of a Commercial Lead (Ally MacDonald) and a Junior Cost Controller (Sophie Mackay) to our team. Throughout the year, we have also expanded our team of Wind Turbine Engineers, welcoming Richie Bell, Aidan Lawson and Greg Stewart.

In May, we signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Rengineers, a strategic alliance that has allowed us to support the Netherlands-based company with the rollout of their unique, insurance-backed 'Garant' maintenance contract to wind farm operators across the country. In October, we revived a 50kW AOC turbine in Aberdeenshire that had remained idle for the last two years. Manufactured by Rengineers and perfectly suited for repowering, we installed a BestWatt turbine, backed by the 'Garant'.

Throughout the year, we attended numerous industry events. In May, we participated in All-Energy in Glasgow, the UK's premier low carbon energy and full supply chain renewables event, followed by the Royal Highland Show and Scottish Renewables’ Repowering Onshore Wind seminar in June. We also exhibited at Scottish Renewables and RenewableUK Onshore Wind Conference in September.

With over 400 turbines maintained nationwide, our services took us as far north as Orkney, as east as Aberdeenshire, as south as Cornwall, and as west as the Isle of Barra, covering every area in between. This year, there has been a focus and demand for major component works, leading us to locations such as Beinn Ghlas Wind Farm to replace the main bearing of a Bonus B44/600 turbine, Kirkby Moor Wind Farm to complete a gearbox replacement on two WindDane WD34’s, and finishing the year off at Lochluichart Wind Farm to dismantle defective major components on a SGRE 3MW DD turbine.

Hamish Campbell, Gael Energy's Managing Director, expressed his gratitude by commenting: "I would especially like to thank our dynamic and hard working team for their commitment, positive attitude and laughs throughout the year. 2024 is shaping up to be another big year for us with lots of exciting projects on the horizon including works with major wind turbine developers, developing and implementing additional services, and continuing to support our loyal customer base. On behalf of all of the team at Gael Energy, I would like to wish you a Happy Christmas and prosperous 2024."
